This week we studied the church of Sardis. They were known as the ones who escaped the dark ages. The church of Sardis represents the church age from 1750 until the tribulation. During the 1700's the church was coming out of the dark ages. For the first time since the 3rd century lay people could read the Bible for themselves. The Sardis church was encourged to study scripture and base their church and doctrine on the teachings of the apostles rather than the pagan teachings being taught by heretics and false teachers. Out of this movement came famouse church leaders such as John Wycliffe and Martin Luther. Next week we will take a break from studying and watch a Christmas movie called, "The Nativity."
